The North Main area encompasses several neighborhoods, including Earlewood, Elmwood, Cottontown and Keenan Terrace, which continue to keep the history alive in downtown Columbia.  This area is known for its suburban, hometown feel with the convenience of downtown living, as well as easy access to the Main Street and Vista areas of Columbia. In addition, the North Main area sits within close proximity to all of the major highways serving Columbia. The North Main area is characterized as a close-knit and friendly community, which features many great parks.

This area is near the Historic Homes area of Columbia, the centralized location of many prestigious homes, such as the Robert Mills house, on the National Register of Historic Places.  There have also been some new developments such as the Canal Place subdivision, NoMa Lofts and Laurel Hill. North Main is now being seen as an up-and-coming area, with developers seeing the value of low-priced land in a centralized location. With the revitalization of Main Street, many believe that the area is poised in a perfect position for exponential growth in the next 10 years.
