If you're looking to get out and enjoy the fresh mountain air without the commitment of a long hike, then you need to check out Sunset Rock. This easy to hike excursion is about 1 mile long on a gravel road. (Pro Tip: You can drive it, but it may take four wheel drive in some spots). Once you're at the top of the hike you'll have two choices: Sunset Rock which is the larger, more picturesque view; or Sunrise Rock which is essentially a large boulder with great views to the south. But while you're up there, you might as well take a look at both! 

Parking

When it comes to parking, there are several spots at the base of the trail, with more across the street at the nature center.

Directions

Just type in Sunset Rock, Highlands, NC 28741 on your GPS and it will take you right there. Or if you're staying in town, head out main street to the east, follow the gravel sidewalk for about .5 miles and it will be on your right. The walk from SweeTreats should take about 10mins.
